Sportfishing - cruelty or not ?
There are billions of fish who die every year in nets. Some of them have the purpose for human consumption, but a lot of them are tortured simply for the sport " purposes ".
We all know that when fish is not in the water, they cannot breathe, they begin to suffocate, and eventually die.
What people probably don't know ( or they do, but they don't care ) is that fish feel the pain. Fish do have the capacity for pain and they have perception for suffering.
Fishing is for a lot of people simply a hobby, and a lot of fish spend their entire lives being constantly traumatized and hurt.
Fish who is being caught and then released back to the sea are more vulnerable to disease, and it can damage their fins and mouths.
Those who are first caught and then released are more vulnerable to predators, and they are not able to simply swim away.
People do like to eat fish a lot, considering it as a healthy food, but what most of you probably don't know is that flesh of sea animals contains high amount of fat and cholesterol. Also what is very often when it comes to eating a fish is food poisoning.
Fish flesh can accumulate high levels of carcinogenic chemical residues.
What you can do, to avoid all those health issues, is not to eat fish or do fishing. In that way you will probably save your health, and of course contribute to reduction of killing fish.
